ACTING OUT, formerly known as The Education Collaborative, is a free, open-access program designed to empower high school students across Los Angeles through the arts. Recognizing the challenges high school students may face in the aftermath of the L.A. wildfires, the program serves as a sanctuary for expression and growth. ACTING OUT provides students with an inclusive space to not only learn acting techniques but also to connect with peers who share similar experiences.
Our program goes beyond traditional arts education by fostering a supportive community where students can explore their creativity, build confidence, and develop essential life skills such as collaboration, communication, and emotional intelligence. Through workshops led by professional actors and industry experts, participants gain hands-on experience in acting while engaging in storytelling that reflects their unique voices and experiences.
ACTING OUT is committed to breaking down socioeconomic barriers, ensuring that every student, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive and pursue their artistic passions. By leveraging the power of the arts, we aim to inspire the next generation of storytellers and performers.
Topics we plan to cover across our upcoming workshops include:
Introduction to Acting
Building the Actor’s Toolbox
Character Development
Improvisation Skills
Script Analysis
Scene Work
Emotional Depth
